Deirdre Brennan Deirdre Brennan is responsible for programming, acquisitions and marketing for Australia's most successful children's broadcaster, ABC TV. Deirdre's aim is to ensure that ABC TV retains its leadership in children's television, with programming that is entertaining, creative and relevant to their audience. In 2004, ABC TV maintained an extraordinary relationship with preschoolers and also achieved a 68% viewing share of 5-12 year olds weekday afternoons 4:00 - 6:00pm. The ABC Kids share has increased significantly weekday mornings, now attracting 66.3% of 0-12 year olds across the children's block. Deirdre became one of Australia's first female television announcers when she joined ABC TV in 1986 whilst studying Economics/Law at Sydney University. She extended her on-air experience with radio broadcasting, as well as becoming a director, stage manager and choreographer. With a television career that spans 19 years, Deirdre has a proven track record with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, including three years as Marketing Planner for the network, before moving into Programming. |
