Michael Carrington As Controller of CBeebies, Michael Carrington is editorially and creatively responsible for the BBC's youngest children's brand. He commissions all CBeebies content across radio, television, and online; overseeing programming, scheduling, audience research, on-air presentation, marketing, and communications. Michael has a deep understanding of how to deliver great content for children, and has successfully inspired creative renewal in CBeebies; commissioning award winning programmes like Charlie & Lola, In the Night Garden and Nina & the Neurons to name a few. Under his creative leadership, CBeebies has enjoyed its highest ever ratings success and won the British Academy Children's Award for Channel of the Year which recognises innovation, commissioning, creative scheduling, impact on viewers and ratings success. Michael has worked with many different formats, including live-action drama, studio shows, and animation production. In his previous role as Head of Animation & Acquisitions, he commissioned a number of successful series for CBBC including The Secret Show, Shaun the Sheep, and Animalia Throughout his career Michael has worked for some of the world's premier media companies including Network Ten Australia, The Discovery Channel (Europe), LEGO Media, and Create TV & Film Ltd. Michael is a member of the BBC Children's Board, the BBC Vision Editorial Group, and the BBC's Leadership Group. He served on the Advisory Committee for Showcomotion for many years, he is a member of the British Academy of Film & Television, and regularly speaks at industry events.
