Creating a successful television program and the supporting digital content for kids is no easy task, which is why the Rocket Fund rewards the best of the best! As part of our commitment to quality children’s television and digital media production in Canada, we are proud to continue with the much celebrated Shaw Rocket Prize: a $50,000 winner take-all award! This annual prize is awarded to the best independently produced Canadian children’s, youth, or family program. It represents one of the largest prizes of its kind in Canada.

An exciting addition to the contest this year is that our juries will also be judging the related digital content as well as the television program. This ensures that the win will be based on the total viewing experience. Kids expect it, and so should we!

Vision

The Shaw Rocket Prize strives to enhance the Canadian children's production industry by adding incentive for producers to continue to create innovative, high quality programming in Canada for Canadian children, heighten the profile of the Canadian children's production industry and stimulate increased sales for the finalists.

International Jury

We have been fortunate to have the involvement of top buyers of kids’ programming from around the world offer their expertise, knowledge and worldly insight into the judging process. These buyers not only add credibility; they bring an understanding of the international landscape into the judging process. The International Jury selects the finalists - the top three to five programs out of all entries.

Kids Jury

Kids from across Canada screen the finalist programs and vote for the $50,000 winner! It has been the Rocket Fund’s goal to include kids in what we do - and what better way than to have the kids - the audience - pick the best program in Canada? The judging is brought back to Canada and the Canadian audience is given the opportunity to make their choice.

It is the Rocket Fund’s ongoing commitment to fuel the children’s production industry, and now that we are entering the Prize’s sixth year, we are proud to continue celebrating the very best of Canadian television and digital programming for kids.
