BEING IAN
2006 ROCKET PRIZE WINNER
The producers of Being Ian have broadcast an amazing 64 half-hour episodes since 2006. They've also produced two movies based on the program, and the Earth Day special, An Ianconvenient Truth, due to play on YTV on April 22, 2009. Overall, since winning the 2006 Rocket Prize, Being Ian has emerged, says producer, Chris Bartleman, "as a strong franchise with fans around the world."
Bartleman notes the weight that the Rocket Prize carries in "the kids' business worldwide." "The Shaw Rocket Fund is probably more important than it ever was," says Bartleman, "as its funds have sometimes allowed shows to go into production that otherwise could not and then would never be seen."
Applauding the Rocket Fund's recognition of the Canadian children's television industry, Bartleman also applauds its process:
Long may the escapades of 12-year-old film fanatic Ian Kelley continue, and good luck to the new show, Caveboy, in development with the Family Channel, that his adventures have inspired!
